Solar thermal energy: THE flat-plate collector from ratiotherm

Flat-plate collector for solar heating support

The potential of the sun as a free source of energy for heating systems is not being exploited to the extent that it could be. As this is a decisive cost factor, a lot of money can be saved by obtaining as much heat as possible from solar energy.

High efficiency of solar thermal energy

Unlike solar systems designed purely for use in good weather, flat-plate collectors capture and utilize even the slightest rays of sunshine—even in high fog conditions. When combined with the Oskar° stratified storage tank or hybrid heat pumps, heat gains are recorded even at water temperatures below 35°C.

Our flat-plate collector can be combined with a solar thermal system, both with traditional fossil fuel-fired boilers and with other renewable energy devices. Our flat-plate collector is manufactured at our site in Dollnstein and therefore also bears the “Made in Germany” seal of quality.

Using solar thermal energy intelligently

The potential of the sun as a free source of energy for heating systems is not being exploited to its fullest extent. With the help of our flat-plate collector, solar energy can almost single-handedly provide hot water during the transition periods and in summer, and even in winter it helps to reduce the consumption of other energy sources to a minimum. However, it is important for solar-assisted heating that the flat-plate collectors on the roof are tilted at an angle of approx. 45° to the sun.

This is the only way to capture every ray of the low winter sun. At the same time, this measure prevents stagnation (i.e., the circulation pump switching off when the stratified storage tank is 100% filled with heat) in the flat-plate collector, especially in summer when solar radiation usually exceeds demand. Our flat-plate collector features sophisticated technology and is extremely durable. Over two million flat-plate collectors are installed on roofs in Germany. Solar heat is also subsidized by the government. For existing single-family homes, up to a quarter of expensive heating oil or natural gas consumption can be avoided without any problems.
